About the Role

Shorter University is seeking a Graduate Assistant who will be guided by high morals and character that exemplify their Christian beliefs in their everyday walk. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and resilience to a fluid work schedule. Previous experience in high school or university Men’s Basketball as a coach and/or player is preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Admission to the Shorter University Graduate School

Responsibilities

• Help promote a Christian environment and transforming lives through Christ
• Assist with the organization and administration of the men’s basketball program, including:
  • Recruiting
  • Practice and game coaching
  • Conditioning
  • Public relations
• Assist head coach with the recruiting of Division II athletes
• Assist head coach with game coaching and evaluation of player performance
• Assist head coach in scouting opponents and in preparation of game plans
• Assist head coach in planning, conducting, and evaluating conditioning programs
• Comply with all NCAA, University, and Gulf South Conference policies and regulations
• Perform other duties as required, including use of personal computers and printers, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
