Assists the Operations Manager I and II and/or Sr. Operations Manager I and II in managing the operations and personnel for a shift at a specific location. May supervise employees including Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. Ensures business objectives and labor requirements are met while balancing customer needs, financial targets, operating quality, safety, and asset management.
Responsibilities
- Workflow Management:
- Work analysis, planning, and scheduling
- Assigning work to technicians and tracking productivity
- Conducting shift and shop meetings
- Reviewing and approving repair orders (RO)
- Executing warranty policies and procedures
- Triage of unscheduled customer drive-ins and communication with customers
- Conducting yard checks for proper work scheduling and prioritization
- Labor Management:
- Management, training, and development of assigned personnel
- Performance management of all assigned personnel
- Customer Management:
- Customer relationship management, issue resolution, and satisfaction
- Ensuring vehicle uptime and communication regarding PM scheduling, breakdowns, and vehicle status updates
- Conducting customer visits as required by the Customer Care Plan
- Asset Management:
- Maintaining shop appearance and standards
- Evaluating and recommending shop tooling and equipment needs
- Assisting in vehicle specifications and in-service/out-service processes
- Ensuring vehicle specifications in SAM
- Parts inventory management and adherence to policies and procedures
- Quality Management:
- Performing quality inspections of PM and repairs
- Conducting in-process reviews of non-PM work
- Breakdown root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
- Ensuring cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehicles
- Ensuring technicians are properly trained and qualified
- Maintaining control and visibility over shop floor activities
- Assisting in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs
- Maintaining documentation to meet local, state, federal, and customer requirements
- Ensuring compliance with Safety and EPA regulations
- Financial Management:
- Ensuring shift/shop meets Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives
- Implementing cost control measures related to maintenance operations budget and location P&L
- Executing Maintenance Initiatives to attain or exceed financial targets
- Managing payroll, purchase order approval, invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation
- Customer bill back process including identification, review, and approval of billable opportunities
- Ensuring proper documentation and reporting of rebillable activity
- Maintaining data integrity in the Shop Management Online system
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree preferred or 1-3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment (demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute)
- Bachelor's degree preferred or 1-3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment (demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute)
- Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with a Shop Management System preferred
- Microsoft Office intermediate proficiency preferred
Skills
- Ability to professionally represent Ryder and interact with customer management
- Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred)
Schedule
Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 pm to 8:00 am
Pay
Annual salary plus bonus incentive. Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills, prior relevant experience, degrees, or certifications.
