Assist the Operations Manager I and II and/or Sr. Operations Manager I and II in managing the operations and personnel for a shift at a specific location. This role may include supervisory duties for employees such as Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. The Operations Supervisor ensures business objectives and labor requirements are met while balancing customer needs with financial, operating, quality, safety, and asset targets.

Responsibilities

  • Workflow Management:
    • Analyze, plan, and schedule work; assign tasks to technicians
    • Track and optimize productivity; conduct shift and shop meetings
    • Review and approve repair orders (RO)
    • Execute warranty policies and procedures
    • Triage unscheduled customer drive-ins and communicate with customers
    • Conduct yard checks to ensure proper work scheduling and prioritization
  • Labor Management:
    • Manage, train, and develop assigned personnel
    • Conduct performance management for all assigned staff
  • Customer Management:
    • Manage customer relationships, issue resolution, satisfaction, and retention
    • Ensure vehicle uptime and follow customer communication protocols for PM scheduling, breakdowns, and vehicle status updates
    • Conduct customer visits as required by the Customer Care Plan
  • Asset Management:
    • Maintain the appearance and upkeep of the assigned location, adhering to 6S standards
    • Evaluate and recommend shop tooling and equipment needs
    • Assist in managing vehicle specifications and in-service/out-service processes
    • Ensure all vehicles meet required specifications in SAM
    • Manage parts inventory, policies, and procedures
  • Quality Management:
    • Perform quality inspections of PM and repairs, including in-process reviews of non-PM work
    • Conduct breakdown root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
    • Ensure cleanliness and quality of all maintained vehicles
    • Work with the Service Manager to train and qualify technicians, prioritizing TOPS plan based on breakdown, rework, and running cost trends
    • Maintain control and visibility over shop floor activities to optimize root cause diagnosis and parts yield
    • Assist in developing and implementing Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs
    • Maintain documentation to meet local, state, federal, and customer requirements
    • Ensure employee compliance with safety and EPA regulations
  • Financial Management:
    • Ensure the shift/shop meets Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives without sacrificing quality, safety, or customer satisfaction
    • Implement cost control measures related to the maintenance operations budget and location P&L
    • Execute maintenance initiatives to meet or exceed financial targets
    • Manage payroll, purchase order approval, invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation
    • Oversee the customer bill-back process, including identification, review, and approval of billable opportunities
    • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of rebillable activity
    • Maintain data integrity in the Shop Management Online system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree preferred or 1-3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment (demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 1-3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment (demonstrated success in a Ryder role may substitute)
  • Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with a Shop Management System preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred

Skills

  • Ability to professionally represent Ryder and interact with customer management
  • Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred)

Schedule

Sunday - Thursday, 9:30 PM to 7:00 AM

Pay

Annual salary range: $72,000 - $75,000, plus bonus incentive. Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant’s skills, prior relevant experience, and certain degrees or certifications.
