About the Role
Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment. Works in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways to improve work methods, work areas, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Attends and successfully completes required technician training classes.
- Maintains high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry.
- Maintains necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Diagnoses and performs designated repairs on customer or company-owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
- Inspects components to ensure maximum parts are being reused to control repair costs.
- Completes required documentation using appropriate software to document repairs performed on equipment and account for repair times.
- Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and ensures the supervisor is aware of any cost overruns before the job is completed.
- Trains and/or mentors others in the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3-4 years of experience.
- Completed all required training curriculum to be designated a Tech II.
- Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
Skills
- Proficiency in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products, and relevant Dealer software programs (highly desired).
- Complex problem-solving ability with little guidance.
- Creativity within well-established boundaries to generate solutions or improve effectiveness.
- Ability to work independently with clearly defined objectives, setting priorities, and making decisions.
Working Environment
- Occasional exposure to stress (less than 20% of the time).
- Frequent changes in priorities, complexity, and/or quantity of work.
- Work is typically performed during regular business hours with occasional requirements to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
Physical Demands
- Frequent: Climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, repetitive motion, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional: Balancing, stooping, pushing/pulling/lifting 26-50 lbs and over 50 lbs.
- Constant: Talking, hearing, standing.
Environmental Conditions
- Constant: Inside conditions with protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature change.
- Frequent: Extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation), and exposure to oils.
- Occasional: Outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, air particulates/contaminants requiring respirator use.
