Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift BCP - Shop Service Technician position available at our Cleburne, Texas location.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM.
About the role
This position is responsible for providing high-quality repair service on heavy construction equipment in a shop environment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work performed.
Responsibilities
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
- Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
- Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
- Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
- Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
- Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
- Mentors and helps train other technicians
- Maintains all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition
- Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 3 years of field or shop service experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform complex repairs in the shop, including pumps, hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical issues
- Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard) required; must acquire if not already owned
- Ability to read, write, and understand information, and to listen to and comprehend spoken instructions
- Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
- Ability and knowledge to read and use schematics and diagrams preferred
- Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

- Control precision: ability to quickly and repeatedly operate machine or vehicle controls to exact positions
- Operation of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and mechanical repair equipment
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascends/descends ladders and equipment using both hands and feet
- Ability to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions
- Visually inspects work
Work Environment
- Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
- May be exposed to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity) when working outside
- Noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
- Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
