Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift BCP - Shop Service Technician position available at our Cleburne, Texas location.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM.

About the role

This position is responsible for providing high-quality repair service on heavy construction equipment in a shop environment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Mentors and helps train other technicians
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of field or shop service experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform complex repairs in the shop, including pumps, hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical issues
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard) required; must acquire if not already owned
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information, and to listen to and comprehend spoken instructions
  • Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
  • Ability and knowledge to read and use schematics and diagrams preferred
  • Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

  • Equipment selection: determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane
  • Manual dexterity: ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
  • Control precision: ability to quickly and repeatedly operate machine or vehicle controls to exact positions
  • Operation of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and mechanical repair equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascends/descends ladders and equipment using both hands and feet
  • Ability to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions
  • Visually inspects work

Work Environment

  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity) when working outside
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
