Department: Texas First Rentals (TFR) – Full Time, located in San Marcos.

About the role

This entry-level position demonstrates the ability to perform basic inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components following established procedures. You will work as part of a team to provide mechanical services that meet customer needs and departmental goals. Generally requires less than two years of experience and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines under immediate supervision.

The role expects daily modeling of company mission, core values, collaboration with internal and external resources, and participation in ongoing self-development.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Assists in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components
  • Learns to plan equipment and component repairs
  • Learns to complete parts orders and identify parts for return
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in clean, orderly condition
  • Completes all repair documentation accurately and on time
  • Works safely and adheres to all safety policies; complies with company policies and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs
  • Updates job knowledge through training opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
  • Requires regular, punctual attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • General knowledge of equipment, tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with computer software, hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Operation and control skills for equipment and systems
  • Equipment selection skills to determine tools needed for the job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and mechanical repair equipment
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate machine controls to exact positions
  • Precise hand-eye coordination for manipulating small objects
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Ability to listen and comprehend spoken information and instructions
  • Must acquire or possess basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Qualifications

  • One or more years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal/lower back muscles to support weight over time without fatigue
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Ascends/descends ladders and equipment using both hands and feet
  • Must safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions
  • Visually inspects work in cramped spaces and/or high places

Work Environment

  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to weather extremes (heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather) when working outside
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Work may involve cramped spaces and/or high places
