Shop Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
• Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
• Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies, as required.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.
• Provide support and training for Mechanic I.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 3 years of experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
• Basic diesel and drive train experience.
• Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
• Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.

Preferred qualifications include 4 or more years of experience, DOT Certified Flagger, and CDL Class A license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment and requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. The job also requires working in inclement weather conditions and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors are also required.
