About the role

Ready to take ownership of a high-performing maintenance operation? As a Shop Manager at Paul Transportation, you’ll lead the day-to-day execution of our maintenance shop—overseeing technicians, managing workflow, and ensuring our fleet is safe, compliant, and ready to roll. This role is built for someone who understands the shop from the ground up and is ready to step into a leadership position focused on accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in minimizing downtime, controlling costs, and developing the next generation of technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop operations including scheduling, workflow, and technician productivity
  • Lead, coach, and develop Maintenance Technicians (Tech I & II), fostering a strong team culture
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance and repairs are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT and OSHA safety standards
  • Monitor fleet downtime and implement strategies to improve uptime and efficiency
  • Review and approve Repair Orders (ROs), ensuring accuracy in labor, parts, and documentation
  • Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and procurement processes
  • Utilize FleetRock and shop systems to track performance, repairs, and reporting
  • Conduct quality control checks and ensure work meets company standards
  • Partner with operations to align equipment readiness with business demands
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices across the shop
  • Hold team members accountable to performance, safety, and attendance expectations
  • Accept additional duties as assigned with a proactive, leadership-focused mindset

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tractor/trailer or diesel maintenance experience
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability across fleet equipment
  • Deep understanding of shop operations, workflow management, and repair processes
  • Experience with federal inspections and DOT compliance standards
  • Familiarity with FleetRock or similar maintenance software (training available)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable
  • Strong communication skills across technicians, leadership, and operations teams
  • Physically capable of working in a shop environment as needed
