Shop Leader - Ballston

About the role

We’re hiring a Shop Leader at our Ballston location! At Call Your Mother, we believe that great food is made even better with amazing service and having fun together. CYM is a neighborhood bagel shop and deli with locations in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, and more on the way. As a Shop Leader, you will partner with management to support daily shop operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations of the shop including preparing the shop to open, executing service, to closing; all at the highest level
• Provide direct leadership during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and high team performance
• Serve as an ambassador of CYM VIBES and own all guest experience moments, ensuring satisfaction and exceptional service
• Proactively solve any problems that arise and always take initiative to keep the shop running at its best, most efficient capacity
• Manage and lead team members through regular VIBE Ups, on-the-job training, coaching, and motivation to deliver great guest experiences
• Support and enforce CYM’s high operational standards by holding yourself and your team accountable to checklists, recipes, and standardized tools
• Maintain cash handling procedures, including processing transactions and daily financial reporting
• Collaborate with your General Manager and fellow leaders to create a positive, inclusive, and efficient work environment
• Auxiliary work as FOH Team Member or Kitchen Supervisor on some shifts to stay hands-on and lead by example

Requirements

• 1-2 years experience in a shift leader or keyholder role
• ServeSafe Manager’s Food Safety Certification
• Hospitality-oriented and passionate about the guest experience
• Initiative, proactive, and able to think of the big picture
• High-energy, positive can-do attitude that thrives in fast-paced environment
• Treats others with kindness and respect
• Team player and always willing to help others
• Works calmly and effectively under pressure; seeks to solve problems
• Communicates clearly and efficiently; proven coaching and leadership skills for a diverse staff
• Flexible to work shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends and holidays

• Must complete a background check

Physical Requirements

• Standing for extended periods
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Frequent bending and reaching overhead
• Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment
• Ability to work in temperatures ranging from hot to cold
• Occasional work in tight spaces or outdoor weather conditions
• Maintain near-constant communication with multiple individuals
• Possess close, distance, and peripheral vision
• Occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling
• Working in a constant state of alertness while adhering to safe work practices
