About the Role
The Shipping Superintendent will oversee and coordinate all aspects of shipping operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of products to customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of shipping personnel, providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure smooth operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and prioritize daily shipping activities to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Collaborate with production, sales, and logistics departments to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Monitor inventory levels and work closely with inventory control teams to maintain accurate records and minimize discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies to create a safe and secure working environment.
- Implement and optimize processes to enhance efficiency and minimize errors in shipping operations.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to schedule shipments.
- Investigate and resolve shipping issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Regularly analyze performance metrics and KPIs, producing reports to evaluate the effectiveness of shipping operations and identify areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to contribute ideas and suggestions for operational enhancements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including training records, reports, and compliance paperwork.
Requirements
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- In-depth knowledge of shipping regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and documentation.
