Key Responsibilities
- Direct, supervise, and assign work to stevedoring personnel.
- Monitor vessel loading and unloading operations to ensure safety and productivity requirements are met.
- Capture cargo handling sequences and day-to-day operational activities.
- Maintain employee attendance and address personnel or operational issues as they arise.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and actively participate in safety programs.
- Cook with internal departments, customers, vessel agents, and vendors.
- Identify potential operational issues and take proactive steps to prevent delays or disruptions.
- Maintain accurate correspondence and operational documentation.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal company systems to support daily operations.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to teams working in a fast-paced terminal environment.
- Work night and weekend shifts as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in vessel operations, stevedoring, marine terminals, or cargo handling is preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage and direct groups of employees.
- Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to anticipate potential issues and follow through with solutions.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to quickly learn internal computer and operational systems.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
- Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a TWIC card.
