About the Role

Under direct supervision of the Director, the student assistant provides support for services related to the Support Services Department, including mail pickup and delivery, package receipt and delivery, and functions related to university property management. Student assistants work with Support Services personnel and perform tasks using a university-supplied vehicle, for which they must pass a defensive driving course.

Responsibilities

  • Inbound and sort packages/parcels according to campus department and deliver them to various on-campus departments.
  • Assemble, organize, and deliver & pickup university mail daily using a university vehicle to designated mail stops.
  • Assist the Property Clerk in performing physical inventories of campus assets, including travel to and from departments, taking notes, and operating a hand-held scanner.
  • Pick up electronic waste items that are E-Waste surpluses from campus departments and verify accuracy of items on the list.
  • Enter data into MS Excel and populate an itemization spreadsheet for a vendor.
  • Assist Printing Service with pickup and/or delivery of print orders to campus departments.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work, follow oral instructions, and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels and ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate). International students must have full-time enrollment (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
  • Eligible to work in the United States and possess a Social Security Card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate). International students must have full-time enrollment (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).

Pay

Anticipated hiring range: $16.90 per hour. The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Schedule

  • Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
  • Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

This is a part-time, temporary, seasonal position. Student employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
