Principal Functions & Responsibilities

  • Scan all incoming freight before properly storing inventory.
  • Mainly responsible for all shipping/receiving for Packaging Dept.
  • Order picking duties for parts sales.
  • Complete daily paperwork.
  • Assistant Logistics Supervisor in processing daily tasks.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules.
  • Coordinate material transfers from offsite storage locations.
  • Lookup part numbers and location in computer systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service in order picking, packing, and shipping of parts.
  • Receiving and storage of emergency and stock orders from vendors.
  • Perform physical inventory counts in coordination with inventory control and parts management.
  • Operate company vehicles, including lift trucks, as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork and computer data entry.
  • Aid with customer parts counter sales processing, as needed.
  • Assist with ascertaining part number; inspect worn, damaged, or defective part to determine customer needs based on good product knowledge of the equipment.
  • Support Product Support Field Sales/Inside Sales/Equipment Sales/Service teams to help them achieve overall company goals.
  • Participate and complete training as required and/or available.
  • Aid with customer order processing and assist with backorder processing, as needed.
  • Operate within all parts policies and procedures of the company.
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency to correspond to customer needs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and high personal morale.
  • Take initiative in the performance of daily duties.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Show good organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Keep receiving area clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two to three years of prior related experience.
  • Previous shipping experience required.
  • Warehouse or experience in a distribution field preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge in overall parts support, inventory control, and parts department operations preferred.
  • Basic math ability for calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as parts prints, operating and maintenance instructions, service manuals, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees on phone and in-person.
  • Basic knowledge of computer entry systems and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Valid driver license with clean driving record and ability to secure lift truck certification.

  • Physical strength and dexterity for manual labor.
  • Wearing of approved safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses with side shields and steel toe footwear).
  • Continuous bending, lifting up to 75 pounds, walking, and occasional local travel.
  • Occasional exposure to noise levels ranging from low to moderate.
  • Flexible during peak seasons to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to answer phones and operate a computer to look up parts or send emails.

Schedule

Monday through Friday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Altorfer Power Systems division sells and services Caterpillar engine products and accessories, including on-highway truck engines, industrial and marine engines, engine-generator sets, electrical switchgear and controls.
