Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees, customers & carriers.
- Operate an industrial forklift to lift, stack, or tier products for storage yard and warehouse operations.
- Performs all duties required by Shipping Operator.
- Performs all duties with minimal supervision.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Reports and corrects any identified sub-standards products and practices, including identification of sun faded product.
- Provides training and assistance to other Shipping Operators.
- Responsible for accurate inventory.
- Know product descriptions, sizes, markings, codes and packaging.
- Load outbound shipments safely and accurately onto trailers for shipment.
- Unload inbound shipments safely.
- Responsible for safe and proper product storage.
- Fill out Pick Lists for Load Checking & Ship Confirmation.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English.
- Communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work well with operators, shift leaders an office personnel.
- Shares information with co-workers as needed.
- Ability to read a tape measure, add and subtract two-digit numbers, plus use calculator.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
- Regularly stand, walk, sit and climb in and out of fork trucks throughout most of the shift.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid, hot and cold conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
