Shipping Operator

Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
• Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe working environment for employees, customers & carriers.
• Operate an industrial forklift to lift, stack, or tier products for storage yard and warehouse operations.
• Performs all duties required by Shipping Operator.
• Performs all duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Reports and corrects any identified sub-standards products and practices, including identification of sun faded product.
• Provides training and assistance to other Shipping Operators.
• Responsible for accurate inventory.
• Know product descriptions, sizes, markings, codes and packaging.
• Load outbound shipments safely and accurately onto trailers for shipment.
• Unload inbound shipments safely.
• Responsible for safe and proper product storage.
• Fill out Pick Lists for Load Checking & Ship Confirmation.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English.
• Communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work well with operators, shift leaders an office personnel.
• Shares information with co-workers as needed.
• Ability to read a tape measure, add and subtract two-digit numbers, plus use calculator.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
• Regularly stand, walk, sit and climb in and out of fork trucks throughout most of the shift.

Work Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid, hot and cold conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
