About the role
Hourly Shipping Lead is responsible for supervising all employees assigned to the department, directing and overseeing all shipments and runs, and training or cross-training employees reporting to you.
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality, efficiency, and production levels set by management and communicate these standards to staff
- Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect department performance
- Establish high morale within the department by showing fairness, consistency, and interest in employee problems
- Maintain confidentiality and daily production schedule regarding customer deliveries
- Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals
- Use shipping technology programs such as Amtech, Top Gun, and Outlook proficiently
- Meet goals for trailer utilization, filling trailers, and shipping efficiently
- Report in writing any maintenance, repairs, or preventive maintenance needed in the department
- Communicate with supervision to avoid problems between shift changes
- Adapt to a flexible shift schedule to cover absentees or call-ins
- Be self-sufficient in problem-solving and leading the department in meeting daily goals
- Set and meet safety goals within the department
- Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and notify the shipping manager of issues
- Participate in meetings with violating employees
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry strongly preferred
- Two years of prior supervisory experience
- Specific knowledge of Shipping/Logistics
- Ability to manage multiple issues concurrently

- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
