Shipping Clerk

About the role

Reporting to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate entry of materials and goods received into inventory. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized in documentation of transactions, and thrive as a materials coordinator (handling shipping, damaged goods, and returns). This role serves as the primary point of contact for all inquiries pertaining to shipments, orders, and inventory.

This position works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery and is identified as “safety sensitive” under applicable laws. Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing, which may include testing for marijuana, is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of items shipped and received.
• Oversee safe and reliable packaging of all outgoing shipments.
• Process items for shipment according to established guidelines and procedures.
• Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
• Review all international shipment documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Maintain timely, effective, and professional communications with all internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Perform effective record keeping, filing, and other administrative duties as required.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures; immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant managers, sales staff, and plant personnel.
• Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience and successful performance.
• Warehouse experience with forklift, packing, and measuring.
• Safety mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of metals handled, including proper staging, processing, packaging, and shipping.
• First aid and CPR training.
• Exposure to SAP, safety programs, ISO standards, and lean practices.

• Hourly non-exempt shift differential compensation (2nd Shift - $1.00 differential, 3rd Shift - any hours worked over 28 hours paid as time and a half).

Pay

$20.00 - $21.50 per hour.
