Shipping Clerk

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Verification: Review and verify accuracy of customer orders, including product types, quantities, and shipping addresses.
  • Packing: Prepare items for shipment by selecting appropriate packaging materials, packing products securely, and labeling packages with shipping information.
  • Shipping Coordination: Coordinate and schedule shipments with carriers or freight services, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules.
  • Documentation: Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation. Ensure all shipping paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Inventory Management: Update inventory records to reflect shipped items and report any discrepancies to the inventory control team.
  • Quality Control: Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness. Report and address any issues, damages, or shortages.
  • Communication: Communicate with other departments, including the warehouse, customer service, and transportation, to relay information about shipments and address any concerns.
  • Customer Service: Provide assistance to customers regarding shipment tracking, delivery inquiries, and other shipping-related matters.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and requirements, including hazardous materials handling, if applicable.
  • Returns Processing: Handle returns and exchanges, process returns into inventory, and update records accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate must have some or all of the following Educational/Technical requirements:
  • - High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational
  • - Minimum of 2 years of experience in Logistics.
  • - Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
  • - Proficiency in using shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Problem-solving: Ability to address shipping-related issues and find timely and effective solutions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in shipping schedules, carrier requirements, and other logistics-related variables.
  • Customer Focus: Understanding and prioritizing customer needs, providing excellent service.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in verifying orders, packing items, and preparing shipping documentation to avoid errors.
  • Organization Skills: Ability to manage and organize shipments efficiently, especially during peak periods.
