Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the shipping and receiving team, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Manage the receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments against purchase orders and sales orders.
- Oversee the preparation, staging, and loading of outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation (e.g., bills of lading, work orders).
- Determine optimal shipping methods and coordinate with carriers for pick-up and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of shipment data including weights, charges, damages, and discrepancies for reporting and accounting purposes.
- Monitor and manage warehouse layout and space utilization to optimize storage and prevent damage.
- Conduct light quality control checks to ensure products are routed correctly and meet company standards.
- Collaborate with production, customer service, and other departments to ensure seamless flow of materials and timely delivery.
- Manage inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventories, to maintain accuracy.
- Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and adhere to safety protocols.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipping and receiving processes.
- Prepare and manage shipping department budgets and report on operational performance to management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in shipping and receiving roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory control software is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Forklift certification and knowledge of safety standards (e.g., WHMIS) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
