About the role
The Shipper / Receiver I position at TE Connectivity's Global Logistics, Americas Distribution Center is responsible for performing all functions associated with material movement, including material handling, paperwork, and recordkeeping. This role involves operating various pieces of equipment such as powered order pickers, forklifts, turret trucks, electric/manual pallet jacks, stretch wrapping machines, laser scanners, etc. The position also includes occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights up to 30 ft.
Responsibilities
- Prepares cartons and pallet loads for shipment by attaching proper shipment documentation as well as carrier required documentation.
- Prepares unit load shipments with stretch wrap or banding.
- Generates manifests and bill of ladings for each shipment, checking against actual carton counts in staging area.
- Contacts common carriers to arrange pick-up for shipments.
- Loads and unloads cartons to/from pallets, carts, or conveyors by using forklift and manual or electric pallet jack.
- Lifts and moves materials from floor level to overhead heights up to 30 feet using mechanical equipment.
- Maintains proper lifting posture: bends at knees, keeps back straight, uses legs for power.
- Operates handheld barcode scanners with precision and speed.
- Uses fine motor skills for packaging, labeling, and documentation tasks.
- Coordinates hand-eye movements while operating powered industrial equipment.
- Types and navigates computer systems and SAP software interfaces.
Requirements
- Typically requires 1-2 years of related work experience.
- Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally lift materials weighing 51-75 lbs with proper mechanical assistance or team lifting.
- Stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods (6-10 hours continuously).
- Climb stairs and ladders to access elevated storage areas up to 30 feet.
- Climb up into the operator’s seat for all types of PIVs (order pickers, turret trucks, sit down forklift).
- Maintain balance while operating elevated equipment (order pickers, turret trucks).
- Walk extended distances throughout warehouse facility (potentially 5-10 miles per shift).
- Perform repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching motions.
- Work in confined spaces when loading/unloading trailers.
- Manual dexterity and coordination required for packaging, labeling, and documentation tasks.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read small print on labels, part numbers, and documentation.
- Color vision to distinguish product identification systems and safety signals.
- Hearing ability to detect equipment alarms, backup signals, and verbal communications.
- Spatial awareness to safely navigate warehouse aisles and operate equipment.
- Environmental exposures include varying temperature conditions, exposure to dust, cardboard particles, and packaging materials, work around moving machinery and powered industrial equipment, exposure to diesel exhaust from trucks and equipment, and exposure to hazardous materials requiring proper PPE protocols.

Pay
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $43,200 – $64,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
