Shipfitter - Skilled

About the role

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematic ability
• Lay out, fabricate, assemble and install foundations, structures, components and deck packages
• Develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations
• Work with company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
• Work in entry in restricted/confined spaces

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or 2+ years of related technical experience
• 5+ years of shipfitting related experience
• Available to train and work on any shift
• Preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
• Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
• Knowledge in fitting, fairing and shaping steel pieces, hull sections, bulkheads and equipment foundations
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams

Qualifications

• Must be available to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat
• Willing to accept road job assignments
• Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance

Pay

• Hourly Rates from $33.19 - $43.20
