Shipfitter - Entry Level and Skilled

About the role

Are you interested in learning a new skill in a manufacturing environment? Or, are you a skilled shipfitter looking for a new challenge? Or, an experienced carpenter/fabricator who wants to take your skills to the next level?

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components, and deck packages.
• Develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning, and grinding operations.
• Align parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips, and wedges through the use of blueprints and templates.
• Tack-weld structural parts as required.
• Utilize hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade.
• Read and interpret written policies, procedures, and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures.
• Perform basic layout functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent OR 2+ years of related technical experience.
• Available to work all shifts.
• Ability to work at heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperature conditions as required.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions.

Qualifications

• Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.
• Preferred: Steel fabrication or carpentry experience, experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment, basic mathematical skills, vocational, technical, and community college experience, military/navy experience.
