SHIP SYSTEMS INSPECTOR

About the role

You will serve as a Ship Systems Inspector in the Quality Assurance Branch (C133293B), Quality Management office (C130) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. Duties include inspecting surface preparation such as mechanical cleaning and chemical cleaning, performing work on complex systems and components, using special measuring and inspection devices, conducting Controlled Assembly verifications, and independently initiating and authorizing the rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect mechanical, piping, receipt, and structural systems.
• Perform pre-arrival and material condition assessments.
• Conduct in-process, product, pre-test, oxygen cleanliness, steam plant cleanliness, and test inspections.
• Review certifications and acceptances of completed work.
• Interpret complex technical diagrams and utilize precision measuring equipment.
• Initiate and authorize the rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures that do not meet specifications.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
• Must qualify as a Quality Assurance Inspector and be able to retain that qualification.
• Must qualify as a Weight Handling Test Inspector.
• Must qualify as an Oxygen Clean Worker.
• Must pass a JEAGER-1 eye exam.
• Must maintain an IT-II level designation.

Qualifications

• Must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
• Must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
