About the role

The Hotel Operations Shift Manager oversees the hotel's operations and staff, including Guest Service Agents, Bell, Door and Valet Staff, Concierge, Wardrobe, Guest Room Attendants and Houseperson during shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise work activities of assigned hotel operations personnel to ensure the smooth running of operations in accordance with established standards.
  • Respond to guest complaints and resolve issues in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Accurate payroll and scheduling to meet business needs.
  • Manage and witness closing paperwork and money drops.
  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day hotel operations.
  • Coordinate front desk activities with Guest Relations and other departments for VIP guests.
  • Perform daily guest room inspections.
  • Maintain proper credit and cash bank procedures.
  • Control hotel inventories to maximize occupancy rates.
  • Attend pre-convention meetings and collaborate with meeting planners to organize group activities.
  • Manage recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, and counseling of personnel.
  • Assign duties to department employees and inspect their work to ensure standards are met.
  • Conduct detailed inspections of rooms and public areas daily.
  • Ensure vacant and dirty rooms meet required standards.
  • Manage preventative maintenance and general cleaning.
  • Coordinate and inspect work orders with the Engineering Department.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with room attendants and house attendants.
  • Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping and front office services and take corrective action.
  • Issue supplies and equipment to workers and oversee proper usage.
  • Participate in training new hires and monitor their progress.
  • Possess understanding of revenue management, related yielding, and room inventory availability and control.

Requirements

  • Strong supervisory and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Five (5) years of hotel management experience with three (3) years in a supervisory capacity in a high-volume luxury property.
  • Previous experience in a five-star facility preferred.
  • Previous experience in a resort/casino environment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate license through the New York State Gaming Commission.
