- Shift: 1st shift (Mon 8-5, Tues 7-4, Wed 8-5, Thurs 8-5 and Fri 8-1)

Summary
The Shelby County Surgical Office is seeking a compassionate and team-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care and clinical support in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Patient Care:
- Obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication reconciliation.
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and office surgeries.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, wound care, and post-operative instructions.
- Coordinate care with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
- Document patient care accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Respond to patient phone calls, questions, and medication refill requests according to provider protocols.
- Clinical Procedures:
- Perform or assist with nursing visits.
- Remove sutures and staples.
- Perform aspiration procedures.
- Remove wound VACs.
- Perform mammography site procedures.
- Assist with office surgical procedures.
- Perform fine needle aspiration (FNA) breast procedures.
- Perform incision and drainage (I&D) procedures.
- Apply unna boots.
- Remove Jackson-Pratt (JP) drains.
- Remove Penrose drains.
- Remove Foley catheters.
- Remove pigtail JP drains.
- Remove percutaneous cholecystostomy tubes.
- Remove hemovac drains.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments following infection prevention guidelines.
- Maintain adequate clinical supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and clinic operations.
Qualification Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.
- Licensure: Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required. Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within designated timeframe).
- Experience: Experience in physician office, hospital, surgical practice, long-term care or skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation facility, or outpatient clinic is welcomed. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent patient assessment and communication skills, strong organizational and multitasking abilities, professional and compassionate bedside manner, ability to maintain patient confidentiality, willingness to learn new procedures and clinical skills, ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and the healthcare team, strong computer and EMR documentation skills.
- Physical Requirements: Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to lift, move, or assist with up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures. Visual acuity to accurately assess patients and document care. Ability to respond quickly in urgent situations.
