About the Role

Nations Roof, one of the largest commercial roofing contractors in the U.S., is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Shop Foreman/Yard to lead commercial roofing crews in the safe, efficient installation of sheet metal roofing systems. This role is critical to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Shop Foreman/Yard, under the direct supervision of the Sheet Metal Superintendent, is responsible for leading a commercial roofing crew to perform work safely and productively per specifications and to the standards of the company and customer.

Crew Leadership & Job Execution

  • Lead and supervise a sheet metal roofing crew, promoting safety, teamwork, and discipline.
  • Perform and oversee installation of commercial sheet metal roofing systems, including: Standing Seam, Wall Panels, Fascia, Coping, and Soffit systems.
  • Provide regular coaching, training, evaluation, and feedback to crew members.
  • Plan work activities by examining roofs, penetrations, and project plans, and assigning tasks based on skill level, experience, and job requirements.
  • Actively participate in installation work as needed to meet production goals.

Safety Leadership

  • Communicate and enforce job-specific safety plans prior to the start of each project.
  • Conduct jobsite safety audits and adjust plans as site conditions change.
  • Lead or actively participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and PPE are inspected and used correctly each day.
  • Maintain jobsites in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Productivity, Quality & Cost Control

  • Plan daily work goals to complete projects on schedule while maintaining quality.
  • Manage workflow of crews and subcontractors to meet production and quality targets.
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications, drawings, and company standards.
  • Monitor job costs and productivity to keep projects on budget.
  • Identify and resolve field application challenges with minimal supervision, escalating issues when specified installations are not feasible.

Timekeeping, Reporting & Systems

  • Accurately clock in/out and ensure consistent and accurate reporting for yourself and assigned crews.
  • Supervise and approve crew timesheets.
  • Maintain and update project information using company project management, Salesforce, and tracking systems.

Customer Service & Collaboration

  • Deliver excellent customer service by understanding and addressing customer concerns or special requests.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, sales personnel, and project stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers to build strong, productive working relationships.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn and use company software and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety procedures.
  • Ability to lead and train crew members in a small team environment.
  • Ability to identify materials and apply proper installation and repair techniques.
  • Physical ability to lift materials, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Ability to work 8–12-hour shifts, including weekdays and weekends as required.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with commercial roofing systems is required.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is required.
