Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on fabrication of architectural sheet metal components using power folders, CNC press brakes, shears, and other machinery.
- Lead and supervise daily shop activities for a team of fabricators, assigning work, monitoring progress, and ensuring production schedules and quality standards are met.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to determine materials, sequences, and fabrication methods.
- Oversee the production of custom architectural products such as glazing systems, curtain wall components, metal panels, coping, flashing, and other specialty items.
- Perform quality inspections throughout the fabrication process to ensure parts meet high tolerances and architectural specifications.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Train, mentor, and develop team members on advanced sheet metal techniques, equipment operation, and best practices.
- Manage shop resources, including material inventory, tool maintenance, and equipment upkeep (CNC press brakes, power folders, etc.).
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and installation teams to resolve issues and optimize workflows.
- Track labor, materials, and job costs while identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in architectural sheet metal fabrication, with at least 2–3 years in a lead or foreman role.
- Strong proficiency operating CNC press brakes, power folders, and other sheet metal machinery.
- Expert ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications.
- Solid background in welding, layout, forming, and finishing architectural metals (aluminum, stainless, copper, etc.).
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work hands-on while guiding a team.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and meeting tight project deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
