Kodiak is seeking motivated and dependable Sheet Metal Helpers to join our team in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will assist Sheet Metal Mechanics with the installation, fabrication, assembly, and repair of sheet metal products and HVAC duct systems for commercial and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Sheet Metal Mechanics with the installation of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment on job sites.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare sheet metal materials under supervision.
  • Assist with installing ductwork, hangers, supports, dampers, and related HVAC components.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Assist with duct sealing, insulation, and system support installation.
  • Help maintain proper alignment and quality of installed duct systems.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site requirements.
  • Work closely with mechanics, foremen, and other trades to support project completion.
  • Assist with material handling, inventory, and job site logistics.
  • Complete assigned tasks within project schedules and productivity goals.
  • Participate in company training and skill development programs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous construction experience preferred but not required.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn the sheet metal trade.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred experience includes construction, HVAC, sheet metal, or mechanical trades, OSHA 10 Certification, trade school coursework or apprenticeship experience, and experience operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, or forklifts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

Full-Time, Monday through Friday. Overtime opportunities available based on project demands.
