Responsibilities

• Supervise the layout, assembly, and installation of various types and sizes of sheet metal ducts
• Solve job-related problems and escalate as needed
• Manage inventory of materials
• Direct work activities and organize resource scheduling
• Assess manpower and material needs for tasks
• Manage and direct crews of 2 to 15 workers
• Plan tasks for the crew
• Read blueprints and equipment packaging lists for assembly
• Solve simple job-related problems and present solutions to the superintendent or project manager
• Coordinate and communicate with customers, owners’ representatives, trade partners, and subcontractors
• Operate a variety of tools, large machines, and specialty equipment
• Support the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on time
• Deliver high-quality, productive work without constant reminders
• Follow, implement, and enforce all safety policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Company

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and some weekends
• Reliable transportation and communication
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Punctuality and professional attire
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial mechanical sheet metal experience
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
• Basic technology skills
• Ability to clearly communicate with superintendents, general contractors, customers, design engineers, and other trades
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC and ductwork installation, including rectangular ductwork, round ductwork, fire dampers, smoke dampers, roof curbs, curb adapters, HVAC equipment, rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and condensate drains
• Extensive knowledge of sheet metal installation, repairs, and duct system fabrication and repair
• Ability to interpret product submittal data and MEP plans
• Proficiency in using a ductulator and understanding ductwork airflow and static pressure
• Ability to draw and lay out sheet metal ductwork
• Familiarity with SMACNA duct construction standards and applicable codes
• Knowledge of local codes and standards

Physical Demands

• Occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing
• Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping
• Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
• Ability to talk and hear
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Material handling: lifting from floor to overhead, occasional lifting up to 115 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, atmospheric conditions, electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet or humid conditions, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working at heights.
