About the role

A growing custom metal fabrication company serving major industrial customers is seeking a Sheet Metal and Press Brake Shop Foreman to lead its on-site forming operation east of Dallas, Texas. This working leadership role requires deep press brake knowledge, strong production judgment, and the ability to guide employees as parts move from setup through completed inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production activities within the press brake and sheet metal department.
  • Assign work based on priorities, employee capabilities, equipment availability, and due dates.
  • Oversee press brake setups, tooling selection, forming sequences, and production methods.
  • Review drawings and job requirements before work begins.
  • Help operators solve difficult setup, bend, tooling, and dimensional problems.
  • Make sure parts meet drawing requirements before moving to the next operation.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, safety, and workflow throughout the department.
  • Coordinate with engineering, programming, quality, production, and project teams.
  • Train and coach less-experienced operators.
  • Identify bottlenecks, rework risks, and equipment issues.
  • Support preventive maintenance and proper use of press brake equipment.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop-floor environment.
  • Help leadership improve production processes, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on CNC press brake and sheet metal forming experience.
  • Previous shop leadership, lead operator, supervisor, or foreman experience.
  • Ability to independently set up and operate CNC press brakes.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, forming sequence, bend deductions, and bend allowances.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience forming different sheet-metal materials and thicknesses.
  • Ability to diagnose setup, dimensional, and production problems.
  • Ability to inspect completed work and confirm that dimensions meet requirements.
  • Strong communication and employee-coaching skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a custom or high-mix production environment.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work on-site east of Dallas, Texas.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with multiple press brake brands, controls, or offline programming systems.
  • Experience with large, complex, or tight-tolerance formed parts.
  • Background in laser cutting, welding, rolling, machining, or other fabrication processes.
  • Experience in a custom job shop or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or production metrics.
  • Experience creating standard work, setup instructions, or training materials.
  • Overhead crane, forklift, or rigging experience.

Pay

Approximately $35.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience.
