Share-A-Meal Event (SAM)
About the role
This position provides short-term residential care for homeless adults who are too ill or injured to recover on the streets or in shelters, but who do not need to stay in a hospital. It includes a safe place to stay, meals, nursing care, help with medications, and transportation to medical appointments.
Responsibilities
- Operate an on-site clinic in partnership with health providers to deliver primary care, mental health counseling, and substance-use support addressing both medical and behavioral health needs.
- Coordinate assessments, benefits enrollment, and housing placement for residents.
- Provide integrated physical and behavioral health services.
- Support residents in securing stable housing post-program.
- Organize and lead volunteer activities such as the Share-a-Meal (SAM) program.
Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare or social work.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Passion for helping homeless individuals recover and find stability.
