Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Emergency Service

About the role

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner will perform exams including medical-forensic exams, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support, and participation in legal proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault victims
• Perform medical-forensic exams
• Administer prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections
• Document findings through photographic means
• Make appropriate referrals for medical and psychological follow-up
• Support and participate in legal proceedings

Requirements

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact
• Completion of SANE training
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required prior to the end of the orientation period
• Certification in SANE-A and SANE-P preferred

Pay

• Evening Shift Differential: $2.50/hour
• Night Shift Differential: $5.00/hour
