Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Emergency Department - PRN

About the role

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) provides compassionate, non-judgmental care to sexual assault victims, including medical-forensic exams, prophylaxis, documentation, and referrals for follow-up and legal support.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely forensic and medical assessments for victims.
• Document findings photographically and support victims emotionally.
• Refer patients for medical, psychological, and legal follow-up.
• Participate in legal proceedings as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
• Valid and current RN license.
• SANE certification from the Texas Attorney General or in-progress with certification within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC certification or in-progress with certification within 6 months.
• Two years of emergency or acute care experience preferred.

This role involves variable hours, including on-call shifts, with nightshift availability based on program coverage. The position emphasizes compassionate patient care, documentation, and collaboration with legal and medical teams.
