Sew On - 3rd Shift

About the Role

Mohawk is looking for a Sew On Operator in the Dalton, Ga area. In this role, you will sew rolls of carpet together for continuous production.

Responsibilities

• Operate sewing machine and knife and ensure that rolls are sewn correctly.
• Run carpet in J-boxes, ensuring it runs straight.
• Monitor J-boxes to ensure carpet enters the accumulator in the proper position.
• Watch for torn leader or seams and re-sew them to prevent tear outs.
• Inspect carpet as it rolls into the machine to alert supervisor of defects.
• Keep J-boxes and accumulator as full as possible at all times.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must have or be willing to obtain a valid lift truck license or complete lift truck certification.

Skills

• Pays attention to details.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to reach, handle, stand, walk, sit, and stoop.
• Occasionally required to kneel.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently throughout an 8-12 hour shift.

Schedule

Must be able to work 8-12 hour shifts, either day or night, weekdays or weekends as scheduled.
