Course Number and Title: WGS376H1F - Studies in Queer and Trans
Course Description: Takes up conversations in queer and trans studies as separate and entangled fields. It explores how queer and trans people have experienced and theorized gender and sexuality.
Enrolment Estimate: 80 students
Estimated TA Support: 180 hours
Class Schedule: Tuesday 17:00-19:00
Delivery Method: 100% in person.

The delivery method for this course is currently 100% in person. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty of Arts and Science or the Women and Gender Studies Institute.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48
    Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,699.22
    Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
    Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,953.96
    Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
    Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90

Includes vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in areas related to the specific course required.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience of a similar course at the university level. Expertise in queer/trans migration and diaspora is an asset for this position.

Description of Duties

  • Preparing the syllabus, reading list and lecture materials
    Delivering lectures
    Developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests and final assessments
    Holding regular office hours
    Communicating with students via email and Quercus
    Managing TAs and/or graders if applicable
