Sessional Lecturer - URB437Y1: Urban Experiential Learning in Toronto & the GTA (1 FCE)
Course Description
A method of studying city issues that combines readings, seminar discussions, and field trips with an 8 hour / week internship in the office of a municipal politician, local government, or non-profit organization. Readings focus on community development, urban planning, economic development and local governance.
Duties
- Develop a detailed syllabus
- Teach the full course
- Conduct all grading
- Prepare and submit all final marks
- Hold office hours each week
- Answer student questions by email and/or appointment
Qualifications
- MA in related field; at least 5 years of experience teaching at the university level; at least 5 years of experience marking undergraduate essays; evidence of recent teaching effectiveness; ability to teach online if required.
- PhD in related field preferred.

Salary Category 1.00 FCE (Sep 2026–Apr 2027): Sessional Lecturer I $19,641.40; Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term $21,020.07; Sessional Lecturer II $21,020.07; Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term $21,520.55; Sessional Lecturer III $21,520.55; Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term $22,060.71
