Course number and title: FOR417H1F – Ecological Principles of Agroforestry

Course description: This course explores the roles of trees and forests in agricultural land-use systems primarily in the third world. An examination of the biological and management aspects of agroforestry, within the socio-economic constraints of the developing world. The sustainability of particular agroforestry systems is a theme throughout.

Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation)

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,997.58
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $ 10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications

Preferably holding a PhD degree with extensive experience in forest agroforestry and conservation; teaching experience an asset

Description of duties

Prepare and deliver lectures, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings, set and mark course assignments, which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments; compile, record and submit final marks. Be available to students through regular online office hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
