About the role

Course number and title: ARC3709HS – Selected Topics in Architecture. Elective - stream/number to be decided.

This course builds on the representational skills and visual practices developed throughout the core architecture curriculum, advancing students’ understanding of image making as a critical and creative practice in architecture. Through a more focused and sophisticated exploration of composition, visual narrative, and digital representation, students will investigate how images can shape architectural ideas, communicate spatial experiences, and construct new forms of architectural expression. The course also considers the rapidly changing role of artificial intelligence in image production, examining how AI-generated and AI-assisted workflows are reshaping authorship, representation, and the relationship between intention and image. Through iterative exercises and projects, students will develop a critical and sophisticated approach to image making that balances technical proficiency with visual judgment and conceptual clarity.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2027 - April 30, 2027
Class schedule: Friday 09:00-12:00

  • Preparation and delivery of course material
  • Managing digital teaching materials
  • Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations
  • Marking of student work and submission of grades
  • Dealing with student enquiries, appeals, and petitions
  • Student contact hours

Requirements

  • M.Arch degree or B.Arch degree in Architecture (preferred)
  • Academic and professional expertise in digital fabrication (preferred)

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90

All rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
