About the role

An opportunity to build a historical and theoretical vocabulary for the designed environment. This course will include case studies at multiple scales, focusing on North American examples from the relatively recent past.

Estimated course enrollment: 80 students. Teaching assistant support: 2 TAs × 90 hours each.

Class schedule: Thursdays, 15:00–17:00. Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course material
  • Managing digital teaching materials
  • Supervision of teaching assistants
  • Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations
  • Marking of student work and submission of grades
  • Handling student enquiries, appeals, petitions, and student contact hours

Requirements

  • Degree in Master of Architecture or Master of Landscape Architecture

Qualifications

Preferred: Applicants with a proven record of teaching design at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90

Salary is inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay, where applicable. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
