About the role

The African Studies Centre seeks a Sessional Lecturer from September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 to teach AFR251HF – Language, Freedom and Linguistic Human Rights in Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content;
  • Develop, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and exams;
  • Calculate and submit grades;
  • Hold regular office hours;
  • Teach in-person at the St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.

Requirements

  • Completed Ph.D. in African Studies, Education, Linguistics, or related fields;
  • A scholarly background in African Studies and relevant areas required;
  • Taught experiences required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant teaching experience at the university level preferred.

  • Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term - $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II - $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term - $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term - $11,228.90

Pay

Class Schedule: Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
