LightFeather is seeking a ServiceNow Platform Engineer to own a new ServiceNow environment for a federal program. This position offers the opportunity to build an environment from the ground up (provisioning, configuration, security hardening, integration enablement, and readiness validation) within a secure federal enclave, and to serve as the platform owner supporting module implementation (including CMDB), platform upgrades, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on platform expert who is comfortable taking an environment from zero to production and staying with it as it grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Stand up and configure a new ServiceNow environment within a secure federal enclave, establishing the instance architecture, baseline configurations, and administration standards.
- Install, configure, and maintain MID Servers and establish secure connectivity within the environment.
- Configure authentication, authorization, and access management (LDAP/Active Directory, SSO/SAML, role‑based access controls).
- Harden the platform in accordance with federal security and operational standards, including NIST, FISMA, and applicable DISA STIGs, and support Assessment and Authorization (ATO) activities.
- Establish and maintain platform administration baselines, including system properties, plugin activation, instance security settings, and upgrade and patch management processes.
- Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise systems using REST/SOAP web services and IntegrationHub, as permitted within the environment.
- Support ongoing implementation and optimization of platform modules, including ITSM and CMDB, in collaboration with the broader team.
- Maintain update sets, environment documentation, build procedures, and technical design records.
- Utilize an Agile/Scrum methodology to manage platform and development work.
- Participate in client calls and technical discussions, coordinating with security, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to resolve dependencies and design gaps early.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience administering, configuring, and engineering on the ServiceNow platform.
- Demonstrated experience standing up new ServiceNow instances or leading instance‑level builds and migrations.
- Strong scripting ability (server‑side and client‑side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, Script Includes).
- Experience with MID Server installation and configuration, and with platform integrations using REST/SOAP web services.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
- Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA, STIGs).
- Experience working on project teams that leverage Agile/Scrum.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate and listen well with business and technical people, regardless of title, with good self‑awareness.
- U.S. citizenship and a Top Secret clearance (active Secret clearance acceptable; LightFeather will sponsor an upgrade to Top Secret for the right candidate).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in federal or defense contracting environments, particularly in classified, air‑gapped, or otherwise isolated networks.
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification.
- Hands‑on experience with CMDB, ITOM, or Discovery.
- Experience with release coordination, version control, environment management, and automated testing strategies, including the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
- Experience supporting Windows Server implementation, upgrades, and integrations as required by the environment.
