About the role
Evaluate and upgrade Gema's existing customers' powder systems, to assist in selling retrofit/conversion packages and to follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with product performance. Gema is a leading supplier in the area of electrostatic powder coating with a worldwide presence, offering solutions that meet high demands across a wide range of industrial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and service equipment in customer facilities through scheduled visits, courtesy visits, or emergency service calls, using electrical and mechanical tools.
- Coordinate with service, installation, product development, and sales personnel to provide expertise and demonstrate capabilities with all Gema equipment.
- Evaluate and upgrade existing customers' powder systems by performing audits of equipment performance, gathering data (e.g., power sprayed, powder applied, film thickness), and submitting findings and recommendations for formalized proposals.
- Provide working supervision and installation assistance for booth systems, retrofit, and conversion packages, including directing proper installation, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Assist distributors and regional sales managers in selling Gema equipment, including demonstrating features, benefits, and service programs, and selling service agreements.
- Analyze customer inventory and usage stocking levels, and develop tailored operations and maintenance programs in coordination with distribution.
- Provide training to distributor and customer personnel through in-plant classroom and on-floor training programs.
- Prepare timely reports for distributors, regional managers, and supervisors.
- Travel extensively, requiring regular motor vehicle transport of tools and company products across state lines.
- Manage and supervise outside contractors and customer employees, including planning, assigning, and directing work, and addressing complaints.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 1.5–2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fundamental electrical knowledge, including the use of electrical test meters for troubleshooting and understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical prints.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, schematic, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical duties include carrying a briefcase with a laptop or tool case, lifting customer production parts, and performing up-close work with tools and electrical circuitry.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud (greater than 84dB).
- Work is performed in and around moving conveyors, nuisance airborne dust particles, and existing liquid paint and solvent materials.

Pay
The base pay range for this position varies based on geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and experience, with consideration for internal equity. Final base hourly rate will be determined upon hiring.
