Job Summary

The Office Secretary supports daily operations of a medical office by managing patient communication, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients while ensuring administrative processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Maryland resident
  • Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18–24)
  • Medical office and computer experience preferred
  • Licensure/Certification: None required

  • Organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency

What You’ll Do

  • Answer patient calls and respond to inquiries, prioritizing urgent messages
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately
  • Verify insurance information and enter data into systems
  • Address patient questions or refer to appropriate staff
  • Communicate appointment updates, delays, or cancellations
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information
  • Keep the office organized and assist with administrative tasks (mail, scanning, forms)
