About the role
Mazzella is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our Service team. The Service Writer will manage the crane repair quote, follow-up, and order cycle, overseeing the entire process from quote creation to order placement necessary to execute repair jobs.
Responsibilities
- Create crane repair quotes using inspection reports, safety documentation, and technician service orders.
- Interact with technicians, Service Supervisor, Service Manager, vendors, and customers to construct accurate repair quotes.
- Send out finished and processed repair quotes to customers.
- Track and receive parts for inspection and repair jobs.
- Notify the service department for scheduling once repair parts have arrived and been verified.
- Follow up on active repair quotes regularly and document progress.
- Archive repair quotes as directed by the Service Manager.
- Provide support to field service technicians regarding parts and component identification.
- Assist with service job quoting and planning/scheduling work as required.
- Communicate with sub-contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Review technical documentation for completing quotes.
- Assist branch management with customer issue resolution.
- Resolve customer issues to their satisfaction and in the best interest of both the customer and Mazzella Companies.
- Oversee routine updates to the Active Quote Log to ensure it reflects the current status of active repair work and spare parts sales.
- Participate in weekly planning and goals meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school, military, or crane service training program preferred.
- 2 years in a sales or service role, equivalent military experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Additional experience with parts ordering, tracking, and receiving.
- Willingness to stay educated in the crane industry and improve computer literacy as cranes become more sophisticated.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with strong multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Valid driver’s license in good standing that meets company requirements.
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
