Service Writer/Advisor

Description GTG Peterbilt - Davenport is a full-service dealership with 12 service bays, 9 body shop bays including a state-of-the-art paint booth. We have a dedicated parts showroom with several million dollars of parts on hand. Our franchises include Peterbilt, Hino, Dependable Truck Parts (DTP) and TRP All Makes Parts. Being an integral part of the GTG Peterbilt, we are in the heart of the Midwest and one of their seven locations. Our location is right on Interstate 80, the corridor that connects the oceans and splits the nation in half. GTG Peterbilt is constantly looking to expand and improve our footprint on the area. You can find your home in this growing family-owned company. We are looking for an experienced Service Writer/Advisor to join our dynamic team. The potential candidate will greet and consult service customers about their problems. This person will assist in the coordination and communications of the service department as well as perform a variety of other service-related tasks Requirements Open and close work orders providing as much information as possibleRecord, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payrollHelp cover phone calls for the Service DepartmentTry to resolve customer complaintsSchedule appointmentsSupervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobsAssist with warranty repair paper flowConsult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairsInstruct the following shift’s service writer on any special instructions and appointmentsKeep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problemsPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications Should possess a high school diplomaA college degree or a certificate/degree from a trade school is preferred, but not requiredMust have strong customer service skillsMust have general computer knowledgeMust pass pre-employment drug screen Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred.A college degree or a certificate/degree from a trade school is preferred, but not requiredCombination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
