About the role
Performs basic field-service work using clearly prescribed procedures in residential and commercial settings.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer requests for service, including connections and disconnections once operator-qualified.
- Inform customers of needed repairs and answer basic questions; ensure customer satisfaction with completed work.
- Disconnect service as necessary and perform collection efforts on delinquent accounts.
- Install, program, and operate Wireless Meter Reading (WMR) equipment.
- Assist with emergency response activities related to natural gas and other incidents.
- Complete and maintain accurate records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Read meters and record usage for billing when required.
- Hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call-outs, and occasional extended hours.
- Report and resolve safety and encroachment issues.
- Operate and inspect assigned company vehicles and equipment safely.
- Adhere to company values, strategies, policies, and procedures, including AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety, and the Code of Conduct.
- Maintain familiarity with the Safety Manual and participate in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Complete all required safety training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license in accordance with company standards.
- Completion of assigned classes, Operator Qualifications (OQ), and on-the-job training specific to the Service Learning Path.
- Maintain all required OQs, classroom training, and certifications.
- Ability to use the company’s internet/intranet for data entry, reference, and retrieval tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers to provide or obtain factual information.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry 45 pounds from the ground to 42 inches (e.g., lifting and carrying a meter).
- Lift 53 pounds from the ground to 52 inches (e.g., lifting and operating a fire extinguisher).
- Generate 95-foot pounds of force at a contact point of 32 inches (e.g., breaking loose fittings).
- Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch.
- Walk distances up to 500 feet.
- Acute sense of sight, hearing (corrected or uncorrected), and strong sense of smell.
- Occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, under houses, and in confined spaces.
Work Conditions
- Work requires entry to customer premises.
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and rough terrain.
- May require residence within a specified response time for call-outs.
- Individual contributor and team-based work.
Other Requirements
This is a Safety-Sensitive position requiring pre- and post-employment screenings, including drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks.
