About the role
The Service Technician II plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the quality of Progress Residential's single-family rental homes. This position involves performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, from electrical and plumbing repairs to appliance installations and inspections.
Responsibilities
- Quickly assess and resolve service requests while maintaining high standards of customer service
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair various systems and components in Progress Residential single family homes
- Handle scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including appliance repairs and replacements
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic HVAC issues such as thermostats, batteries, and filters
- Report major repairs or replacements before any expenditures
- Ensure the property's safety by addressing any unsafe conditions immediately
- Comply with company policies, state and federal regulations, and maintain workplace safety standards
- Complete service requests promptly and professionally
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Work on-call, weekends, and evenings as needed
- Manage personal tools and equipment for service work
- Adhere to fleet vehicle maintenance schedules and workplace cleanliness
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical College or Trade Program with HVAC Certification (preferred)
- At least 3 years of general service and maintenance experience (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, drywall repair, etc.)
- Valid driver's license in the working state
- EPA Certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years' experience repairing all makes and models of residential appliances (preferred)
- Knowledgeable of all pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and handheld computers
- Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physical demands: Sitting, standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds
Skills
Essential skills include problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with common household appliances and the ability to diagnose and repair them are also critical.
