Service Technician
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and efficient service to all customers, including installation of tanks (propane, refined fuel, and lubricant) and service of existing equipment and systems
- Work individually or as part of a crew during construction or installation of any petroleum, propane, or associated equipment at company and customer locations
- Conduct service work as scheduled, including after-hours emergency service
- Clean and maintain equipment assigned to position
- Handle all “out of gas” calls according to the company’s procedures
- Inspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to assure safe, dependable operations
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair system and equipment issues as assigned
- Maintain inventory of fuel-related and non-fuel related parts and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipment
- Absorb and communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs and customer needs, questions or concerns
- Identify and timely communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs and customer needs, questions or concerns
- Communicate any necessary changes and/or issues directly to supervisor
- Safely operate vehicle according to MFA Oil Company policies and guidelines, state and federal transportation laws, and other related regulations
- Properly use handheld systems as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to supervisor, as well as maintaining truck in a neat and clean condition
- Present a positive image of MFA Oil Company to the community and be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by the company
- Support and understand company policies and procedures and communicate those to customers as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Training and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenance
- Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials
- Ability and willingness to become propane (CETP) certified as determined by the state(s) served
- Ability and willingness to become MFA Oil crane certified
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements per the vehicle requirements
- Ability to pass in person training and MFA Oil Company Record of Road test requiring operation of both manual and automatic transmission vehicles within 90 days of employment
- Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions
- Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including handheld delivery tracking device
- Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shift
- Ability to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucks
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders to deliver fuel
- Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
- Vision, hearing, speech and ability to detect odors
- Availability to work a rotating on-call schedule, holidays, weekends, and after regular business as needed
- Reliable transportation to work
- Legal authorization to work in the United States of America
- 21 years of age or older
