Service Technician

About the Role

Beztak Senior Living is seeking a Service Technician to join our team. This position ensures the property, grounds, and equipment are safe, orderly, and visually appealing, providing residents with a clean and well-maintained living environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform building repairs, snow removal, and groundskeeping.
• Respond to service requests with a sense of urgency.
• Manage inventory and maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance shop.
• Maintain and care for equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Complete emergency repairs to prevent damage or deterioration.
• Document replacements and repairs (e.g., appliances, carpet, water heaters, condensers, painting, refrigerator coil cleaning).
• Note building deficiencies or needs in writing to the Supervisor.
• Operate a company or personal vehicle for work-related duties.
• Work in a high-pressure environment, handling urgent matters, conflicts, and interactions with difficult customers or vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or related vocational training and/or equivalent work experience.
• 1-year experience in a similar field required.
• HVAC knowledge and EPA certification preferred.

Background Check Process

Pre-employment testing includes criminal background checks, fingerprinting (where applicable), and drug testing. Additional state-specific requirements apply:

• Florida: Level 2 ACHA requirements (see Florida Clearinghouse).
• Arizona: Fingerprint clearance card, TB test, and Adult Protective Services registry clearance.
• Michigan: TB test and fingerprinting.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, or reaching overhead.
• Pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

• Work performed indoors and outdoors, including occupied/unoccupied units, maintenance shops, and common areas.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and occasional extreme conditions.
• Exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, debris, cleaning agents, paint fumes, construction odors, and grounds maintenance chemicals (e.g., fertilizers, herbicides).
• Moderate to loud noise levels from tools, machinery, and equipment.
• May work in confined spaces, heights, or areas with limited ventilation.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, masks, and hearing protection may be required.
