Service Technician
Responsibilities
- Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial machinery or equipment.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using testing devices.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
- Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Study schematics or manufacturers' manuals to determine the correct installation or operation of machinery.
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Keep rental area organized for inbound/outbound rental exchange.
- Manage company-owned tool inventory.
- Keep the Service area safe and organized.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A high school degree or GED.
- Completion of a Trade School Certificate Program or an Associates Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including machine and/or tool design, uses, and maintenance requirements/history.
- The ability to apply proper principles, techniques, and procedures to the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery or equipment.
- The ability to determine the cause of operating errors and decide how to correct the issues.
- The ability to discern the type and frequency of required maintenance needed on industrial machinery or equipment.
- The ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- The ability to interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
- The ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Work Hours
Typical Monday-Friday 8-5 office hours. Overtime and travel may be required as part of normal business operations.
Physical Environment and Requirements
Exposure to the Warehouse/Operations areas where certain areas may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection is common. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration is common. Exposure to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, and rain is common. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting up to 55lbs as required. Proper lifting techniques required.
