Service Technician

About the Role

As a Field Service Technician specializing in commercial laundry equipment repair, you will be dispatched from your home to troubleshoot and perform mechanical/electrical repairs on various makes of commercial laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers, etc.) at customer sites such as workout facilities, hospitals, and motels. The role services the Utica, NY territory. Building strong customer relationships is key to growing and maintaining our business, and your positive attitude and work ethic will drive success.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair commercial laundry equipment (On Premises Laundry & Vended).
• Install replacement parts as needed.
• Accurately document all service activities, including time and materials.
• Accurately document all travel activities, including mileage and fuel purchases.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair work to ensure satisfaction.
• Communicate with the service manager, parts department, and vendors to facilitate accurate work.
• Maintain tools, service equipment, and service vehicle (company supplied).
• Assist install crews with equipment installations and deliveries.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as required to maintain efficient department operations.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2+ years of mechanical repair experience; laundry equipment experience preferred but not required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Working knowledge of electrical testing tools and/or other diagnostic/programming tools.
• Experience in telephone and email/ticketing dispatch system-based customer support preferred.
• Strong mechanical acumen; ability to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Solid organizational skills and detail-oriented; ability to self-manage workload and multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate professionally across all levels of the organization.
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
• Resilient; able to confidently navigate ambiguity and change.
• Strong work ethic; self-starter demonstrating a proactive approach and tenacity.
• Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. frequently (assistive devices provided for heavier items).

Travel

Substantial travel within the assigned service territory. Some overnight travel may be required for special projects.

Physical Requirements

• Position involves sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, climbing, and manual dexterity.
• Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
• Frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay

For New York, the base compensation range for this role starts at $23.00 per hour. Actual compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
